Welcome to On the Path From Fellowship to Freedom: A Gathering of Friends of African Descent, their families, and friends.
This historic gathering invites us to celebrate the opening of the renovated 250-year-old Unity Friends Meetinghouse, home of the Ujima Friends Peace Center and a newly formed Pan-African Quaker meeting in Philadelphia. The Ujima Friends Peace Center began as a ministry of the Fellowship of Friends of African Descent (FOFAD), committed to reducing violence, creating safe haven, and offering educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities for adults and young people.
Now located at the historic Unity Friends Meetinghouse in Frankford, this work continues the path from worship, to concern, to action, to community transformation.
As we gather on August 29 and 30, 2026, we honor this sacred site, a site of the Underground Railroad, and the ongoing witness of African-descended Friends who are building spaces of Spirit, justice, healing, and collective care.
